HC Deb 17 April 1905 vol 145 cc313-4
MR. WILLIAM McKILLOP (Sligo, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the estate of W. J. Griffith, at Killery, near Ballintogher, county Sligo, has been for many years in the Land Court; and that an order was made by the Land Judge that the estate should be inspected with a view to its purchase by the Estates Commissioners, and to its resale to the tenants; will he say if the estate has been in- spected; and, if not, can he explain the cause of the delay; and will he give instructions to have the inspection proceeded with as soon as possible.

MR. WALTER LONG

The Commissioners issued a request to the Land Judge, under the 7th Section of the Act of 1903, in February last. The tenants are now withholding payment of their rents, and the Land Judge has directed, in consequence, that all further proceedings towards a sale shall be abandoned so long as the tenants maintain this attitude.
