HC Deb 13 April 1905 vol 145 cc85-6
MR. CLANCY (Dublin County, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been directed to the condition of Balbriggan Harbour; whether any representations on the subject have reached the Board of Works from the Dublin Port and Docks Board; and whether he can hold out any hope that a Government dredger will be employed at an early date to prevent the harbour in question from becoming entirely useless owing to the accumulation of mud and sand both in the harbour and at its mouth.

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

This harbour is under the control of the Dublin Port and Docks Board, and no represen- tations have been received from that Board by the Commissioners of Public Works. I understand that the dredger referred to is engaged for the whole of the current year.

MR. CLANCY

If representations are made by the Harbour Board will the-dredger be sent?

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

Of course any representations will be considered, but the dredger is engaged for the whole of this year.

MR. CHARLES DEVLIN (Galway)

Where is the Galway dredger just now?

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order!
