HC Deb 07 April 1905 vol 144 cc908-9
DR. MACNAMARA (Camberwell, N.)

To ask the Lord-Advocate whether he can state the number of Scotch ex-elementary school teachers now in receipt of retiring allowances, with the amounts of the pension or gratuity in each case, distinguishing between allowances granted by the Scotch Education Department and by Scotch school boards respectively.

(Answered by Mr. Scott Dickson.) The existing pensions granted by the Scotch Education Department are as follows:—36 pensions of £30 per annum; 84 pensions of £25 per annum; 102 pensions of £20 per annum; 1 pension of £15 per annum; 10 pensions of £10 per annum. A sum not exceeding £100 is also available each year for gratuities. I am not in a position to furnish information as to the number of teachers in receipt of retiring allowances from school boards.
