HC Deb 04 April 1905 vol 144 c313
MR. J. H. LEWIS (Flint Boroughs)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether a Return will be presented setting out the material parts of the enactments contained in, applied by, or incorporated with the Baths and Wash-houses Acts, 1846 to 1899, or the Burial Acts, 1852 to 1900, as respects dealings with property, loans, and matters connected therewith, proposed to be transferred from the Local Government Board to the Treasury, under the provisions of the Bill introduced on March 7th.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY (Mr. VICTOR CAVENDISH, Derbyshire, W.)

The hon. Member would appear to be under some misconception as to the object of the Bill referred to, which is to transfer certain functions, still remaining rather anomalously with the Treasury, to the Local Government Board, the Department properly responsible in matters connected with local authorities. To elucidate the question, I am giving directions for a Memorandum to be issued, which, I think, will give the information desired by the hon. Member in a form most convenient to the House.
