To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state the strength at which the Royal Irish Constabulary has been maintained annually in the county of Mayo from 1899 to 1903.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The average actual strength of the free force was as follows:—In 1899, 465; in 1900, 478; in 1901, 490; in 1902, 472; in 1903, 468. In addition, there was in 1899 and part of 1900 an extra force of fifty men, of the cost of which the county paid as moiety.
