To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his recent statement of the average duties received from sugar includes the duty on molasses; and if not, whether he will state for the same periods the average duty received per hundredweight of sugar and molasses taken together.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The recent statement referred to sugar only. The average gross rate of duty received on sugar and molasses in each financial year since the reimposition of the Sugar Duty up to March 31st, 1904, and in the eleven months up to February 28th, 1905, is as follows:—Financial year ended March 31st, 1902, the cwt., 3s. 10.l0d.; Financial year ended March 31st, 1903, the cwt., 3s. 9.04d.; Financial year ended March 31st, 1904, the cwt., 3s. l0.80d.; Eleven months ended February 28th, 1905, the cwt., 3s. 1l.18d.
