HC Deb 03 April 1905 vol 144 c93
MR. BENN (Devonport)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state the annual amount withdrawn from the possible London Compensation Fund, under the Licensing Act of 1904, by the action of the City of London in maintaining a jurisdiction apart from the county of London.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Akers-Douglas.) If the intention of the Question is to ascertain the maximum amount which can be levied in the City of London under the Licensing Act, 1904, I may say that I understand that it has been estimated at about £25,000; which is about one-ninth of the amount that can be levied in the county of London, outside the City. The City of London has always been a separate licensing jurisdiction.
