HC Deb 16 May 1904 vol 134 c1377
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, having regard to the fact that H.M.S. "Jackal," which has hitherto been engaged in protecting the interests of the line fishermen from the depredations of illegal trawling off the coasts of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, recently made three cruises for the purposes of scientific research in connection with the International North Sea Investigations, will he state what Admiralty vessel was detailed to perform the sea police duties of the "Jackal" during her two months absence.

MR. PRETYMAN

The "Jackal" was detailed for scientific research at the request of the Scotch Fishery Board, and as part of her fishery duties. No relief ship has, therefore, been detailed.
