HC Deb 16 May 1904 vol 134 cc1397-8
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, in view of the fact that in some districts of Ross-shire half the deaths are uncertified and that similar conditions prevail in other Highland crofting counties, will he state whether he purposes to propose legislation to deal with the matter.

THE PRIME MINISTER AND FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

It is not proposed at the present time to introduce any such legislation.

MR. WEIR

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this state of affairs in the Highlands has been going on for many years?
