HC Deb 10 May 1904 vol 134 c889
MR. SYDNEY BUXTON (Tower Hamlets. Poplar)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, under any regulations to the Transvaal Ordinance (and, if so, which), the cost, of repatriating the wives and children of a labourer who is returned to China at the end of his indenture will fall on the employer and not have to be borne by the labourer himself.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) The obligation is imposed on the importer by Section 33 (2) of the Ordinance.
