HC Deb 06 May 1904 vol 134 c645
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)

To ask the Postmaster General whether there is any official regulation or rule prohibiting a rural postman, on fixed wages of 16s. per week, being regularly employed in his spare time as an assistant to a sub-postmaster.

(Answered by Lord Stanley.) There is no general rule on the subject. If the assistance rendered is in the sub-postmaster's official duty it would depend upon the circumstances of the case whether it could be allowed. If the hon. Member will give me particulars of the case to which he refers I will have inquiry made on the subject.
