HC Deb 05 May 1904 vol 134 cc537-8
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he will state what sum was expended by the Treasury during the past financial year in connection with the Scottish portion of the work of the International Committee for investigations in the North Sea, and on what Vote the expenditure was placed; did any member of the International Committee receive a salary or remuneration out of this Vote; and, if so, will he quote the amount.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY (Mr. VICTOR CAVENDISH,) Derbyshire, W.

The amount is £6,732 3s. 6d., subject to such corrections as the audit of the payments for March may require. The money was voted under the head of Scientific Investigation, Subhead P., in the Civil Service Estimates, Class IV. One member of the Council received £300 and his travelling expenses out of this grant.
