HC Deb 04 May 1904 vol 134 c392
MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state whether the Government intend to make any further provision in the Labourers (Ireland) Bill for the building of cottages when the Is. in the £ rate limit has been reached by the local authorities, except the Exchequer contribution; and whether, in such cases, he will take steps to have the unexpended balance of about £50:000 devoted in said Bill for the housing of the working classes with a view to checking emigration.

MR. WYNDHAM

It is not proposed to increase the present maximum rating limit. The question of the application of the unexpended balance of the Exchequer contribution is engaging consideration.
