HC Deb 04 May 1904 vol 134 c396
MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he can state whether it is the intention of the Government to proceed with the Bill to amend the law with regard to the sale of butter; and, if so, when will the Second Reading of it be taken.

THE PRIME MINISTER AND FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. Balfour,) Manchester, E.

I cannot fix a day for the Second Reading of the Bill, but I hope it will be passed in the course of the session.

MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that through lack of time the Bill has failed to pass two years in succession?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

Well, I hope the hon. Gentleman and his colleagues will do all they can to help me get as much time as possible.
