HC Deb 04 May 1904 vol 134 c373
SIR HENRY FOWLER (Wolverhampton, E.)

To ask the hon. Member for Chorley, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, when does he expect the road from the Duke of York's Steps to Charing Cross will be completed; and whether he would give directions for a temporary footpath from The Mall into Charing Cross to be available for pedestrians in the meantime.

(Answered by Lord Balcarres.) It is not possible to fix a date for the completion of the road until the plans of the Admiralty extension, now under consideration, have been determined. Should it be possible to open a footpath without danger to pedestrians during building operations the First Commissioner will be glad to consider it.
