SIR MANCHERJEE BHOWNAG-GREE (Bethnal Green, N.E.)I beg to ask the Postmaster-General what is the present arrangement for carrying on the postal service between Aden and the Somali coast, and the expenditure on that service; whether it is in contemplation to make any alteration in that arrangement; and, if so, what would be the estimated cost thereof.
§ THE POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Lord STANLEY,) Lancashire, WesthoughtonI have no information of recent date as to the arrangements in force for the conveyance of mails between Aden and the 842 Somali coast. To the best of my belief, a local steamship company is employed for the purpose; but the service is not provided by the Imperial Post Office; and I am not in a position to furnish the particulars asked for.
§ LORD STANLEYNo, Sir.
