§ MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney and Shetland)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if, in view of the fact that the mine-owners of Johannesburg could, with the approval of the Transvaal Government, import as many Chinamen as they wished into the country, he will delay giving effect to the importation of indentured labour until further information is available as to why this arrangement would not meet the necessity of the case.
§ MR. LYTTELTONI have to refer the hon. Member to the published Papers which show that the public opinion of the Transvaal is opposed to the introduction of Chinese labourers except under indenture for work in the mines.
