HC Deb 10 March 1904 vol 131 cc744-5
MR. MANSFIELD

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will grant a Return showing the names of the various companies interested in gold mining in South Africa, the capital of those companies, and the; amount of dividends paid for each year during the last five years, together with the number of persons employed, showing separately the number of British, foreign, and native persons employed.

MR. LYTTELTON

I have not in my possession the information necessary for the preparation of such a Return, much of which is not of a nature to come before Government. It would probably be impossible to collect now all the information † See (4) Debates,, xcii, 329. asked for in the last part of the Question. I am not, therefore, prepared to grant the Return.
