HC Deb 10 March 1904 vol 131 c757
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL (Kerry, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the case of Mr. Patrick Cournane, at present in Maryborough Prison, who has served sixteen years penal servitude for an agrarian crime, has been considered with a view to his release.

MR. WYNDHAM

The prisoner is undergoing a commuted death sentence. His case was before the Lord-Lieutenant in December, when it was decided that there are no sufficient grounds at present for a remission of the sentence.

MR. FLAVIN

Does the right hon. Gentleman not consider that sixteen years penal servitude is long enough?
