§ MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN (Kilkenny)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that on the 1st of January of this year the Great Southern and Western Railway Company doubled the rate per ton for the carriage from Kilkenny to Dublin of polished or dressed limestone and marble: and whether, as the production of polished marble and limestone is an important industry in Kilkenny, he will cause the Department of Agriculture to take action to prevent its being injured by railway charges for transit to Dublin and other markets.
