HC Deb 08 March 1904 vol 131 c454
MAJOR SEELY (Isle of Wight)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the importation of Chinese indentured labour into the Transvaal shall be a temporary expedient.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) The extent to which the importation of Chinese may prove to be temporary will depend mainly upon the development of sources of labour supply in South Africa, an object which every effort will be made to attain.
