LABOUCHERE (Northampton)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the patent constituting the new War Office Council was issued upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, after consultation with the Committee of Defence and with the Cabinet; and what was the date when the Cabinet approved of the appointment of the Council.
§ Mil. ARNOLD-FORSTERThe patent was issued in accordance with the advice of His Majesty's Government. It would not be usual, nor do I consider it desirable, to state in detail, the preliminary steps that were taken. The War Office Council was appointed with the full approval of His Majesty's Government.
