HC Deb 03 March 1904 vol 131 cc73-4
MR. JOHN O'DONNELL (Mayo, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Congested Districts Board have purchased the Burke estate, near Claremorris, county Mayo; and, if so, whether, seeing that on this estate there is a considerable quantity of grazing land suitable for distribution purposes, and that there are a number of evicted tenants on the estate, he will take immediate steps to put the provisions of the Land Act of 1903 into operation in that district by giving a preference to the evicted tenants before planting any other tenants on these lands.

MR. WYNDHAM

The Congested Districts Board has purchased this estate, which is nearly ready for re-sale to the tenants. I am making inquiry into the hon. Member's suggestion in respect of the evicted tenants.
