HC Deb 02 March 1904 vol 130 c1475
MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney and Shetland)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if, while the system of indentured Chinese labour is in force in the Transvaal Colony, measures will be taken to prevent the introduction of free Chinese labour.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) Measures are already in force under the Peace Preservation Ordinance by which the introduction of free Chinese labour can be restricted by withholding permits.
