§ MR. LOUIS SINCLAIR (Essex, Romford)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he intends to carry out the promise made by the ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer last year to appoint a Departmental Committee to consider the practice with regard to income- tax payment; and, if so, whether the question of co-operative societies' exemption will be considered by the Committee.
(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) A Committee was appointed two months ago, and the names of the members and the terms of reference have been publicly notified on several occasions.
