HC Deb 28 June 1904 vol 136 c1420
MR. FIELD

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the Government will take steps to instruct the Royal Commission on Food Supplies and Raw Materials to take evidence on the evils caused by the prevailing system of gambling in futures as affecting the producer, manufacturers, and consumer.

THE PRIME MINISTER AND FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

This Question has already been answered, and if the hon. Member will consider the matter he will see that it is impossible for me to dictate to the Commission what evidence should be taken, and on what subject; but he may rest assured that the Commission is giving the matter full consideration.
