HC Deb 28 June 1904 vol 136 cc1416-7
MR. J. P. FARRELL (Longford, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any application has been made to the Estates Commissioners for the restoration to their homes of eight evicted tenants on the Dopping-Hepenstal Estate in North Longford; whether he is aware that these eight farms are practically derelict, three of them being in the landlords' hands and five let on the eleven months system; and whether, as this is a poor congested district, any steps can be taken for the sale of the estate under the 7th Section of the Land Act of 1903.

MR. WYNDHAM

Only one application for reinstatement has been received from this estate. The Estates Commissioners will inquire as to the desirability of issuing a request under Section 7.

MR. J. P. FARRELL

How long will it take to arrive at the decision? When may I put the Question again?

MR. WYNDHAM

I cannot form any estimate of the rate of progress likely to be made.
