THORNTON (Clapham)To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state the number of Civil Service writers who were promoted to senior assistant clerkships under the provisions of the Treasury Minute of 10th August, 1889, giving the number in each department, and the age at which they were promoted.
(Answered by Mr. Victor Cavendish.)It would be necessary to refer to over 600 975 sets of papers to ascertain these particulars which do not appear to be worth the trouble and expense of compilation. But I will communicate with the hon. Member on the subject.
