HC Deb 22 June 1904 vol 136 c820
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is in a position to make a statement as to the changes in railway administration, proposed by Lord Milner, which have led to the resignation of Sir Percy Girouard; whether it is intended to appoint an Acting Railway Commissioner; and whether this appointment will be a permanent one.

MR. LYTTELTON

I have been informed by Lord Milner that in consequence of the debates and resolution of the International Council Sir Percy Girouard has tendered his resignation of the office of Railway Commissioner which, Lord Milner has accepted. The question of a future appointment is under consideration.
