HC Deb 14 June 1904 vol 136 c21
DR. MACNAMARA

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board how many applications have been made to local authorities for loans for the purpose of acquiring the ownership of small houses under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act of 1899; how many such loans have been made; and what is the total amount so advanced.

MR. WALTER LONG

My information is limited to cases of applications for sanction to loans for the purposes of the Act in England and Wales. The Local Government Board have received seventy-nine such applications and have sanctioned the borrowing of £63,514 in respect of seventy-five of these applications. As regards London, the sanction of the London County Council is required to any such loans. I am informed that they have received ten applications and have sanctioned five, amounting in the total to £960, and that they have one application still under consideration.
