HC Deb 13 June 1904 vol 135 c1474
MR. NANNETTI (Dublin, College Green)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the increase of clerical work in Irish income-tax districts since July, 1900, he will raise the clerks in 4th class districts from their present scales D and F respectively to higher scales as the circumstances of their several districts may suggest, seeing that promotion to these clerks is otherwise practically impossible, only one transfer to England having been effected in four years past.

(Answered by Mr. Victor Cavendish.) I am advised that the circumstances do not warrant any increase in the salaries of these officials.
