HC Deb 13 June 1904 vol 135 cc1472-3
SIR HARRY SAMUEL (Tower Hamlets, Limehouse)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether boards of guardians of England and Wales will be given an opportunity of expressing their opinion upon the contemplated order to be issued by the Local Government Board consequent upon the recommendations of the Departmental Committee upon the nursing of the sick poor in workhouses; and whether a draft of such order can be furnished to the Poor Law Unions' Association of England and Wales before the same is made absolute.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) I have received a large number of representations from boards of guardians on the Report of the Departmental Committee on Nursing which has led to the proposed order, and these representations have been duly considered. I cannot undertake to afford to boards of guardians generally any further opportunity of making representations on this subject; but I will consider the suggestion in the latter part of the Question.
