HC Deb 13 June 1904 vol 135 cc1490-1
MR. GARDNER (Berkshire, Wokingham)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether, having regard to the fact that the evidence given before the Departmental Committee on Motor Cars was only published on 4th June he will cause a circular letter to be addressed to the county councils, intimating that he will consider representations, should they desire to make any, upon the recommendations of the Committee; and whether he will allow a reasonable time for representations to be made before making Regulations under Section 12 of The Motor-Car Act, 1903.

MR. GRANT LAWSON

My right hon. friend wishes me to say that he is strongly † See (4) Debates, cxxxii., 979. urged to issue these Regulations as soon as possible, and is reluctant, therefore, to take the course which the hon. Member suggests. He will, however, consider whether, it will be practicable to afford representatives of local authorities concerned an opportunity of seeing the draft of the Regulations.
