HC Deb 13 June 1904 vol 135 cc1480-1

The following Question appeared on the Paper:—

MASTER OF ELIBANK (Edinburgh, Midlothian)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether the General Commanding the Forces in Scotland has reported to him the action of Dr. Cameron Lees in forbidding military services to be conducted in St. Giles' Cathedral for Scottish regiments quartered at Edinburgh Castle; and, if so, whether he will make representations to Dr. Cameron Lees' ecclesiastical superiors in regard to this de parture from traditional usage.

On the hon. Member being called upon to put the Question he said: Since placing this Question on the Paper I have received a letter from Dr. Cameron Lees which convinces me that the action of which I complain was due not to him but to the Kirk Session, and as I have no desire to do him an injustice I do not propose to ask the Question.
