HC Deb 09 June 1904 vol 135 c1227
MR. HUNT

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will consider the desirability of issuing a circular directing the managers of all schools receiving Government grants to allow their use for the meetings of any political Party.

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Sir William Anson,) Oxford University

The control and use of school premises out of school hours rests, in the case of council schools, with the local education authority, and, in the case of voluntary schools, with the trustees or owners of the building, and in neither case with the managers appointed under the Act. The Board see no reason in either case to interfere with the discretion of the persons or bodies in whom such control is vested.
