HC Deb 06 June 1904 vol 135 c805
MR. TENNANT

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is now prepared to set up the Select Committee on Nursing and the State Registration of Nurses, and to state what will be the reference to the Committee.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I hope the Committee may be set down shortly. I do not think there ought to be any difficulty with regard to the reference, but am not in a position as yet to state it to the House. I do not know whether it is worth while adding that there are two Bills now before the House dealing with the subject, which, if the House were content to read them formally a second time, might be referred to the Committee.

MR. TENNANT

Do understand that the Government would assist private Members—that they would not put any obstacle in their way?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

They would not put any obstacle in their way, but do not think could promise Government time.
