HC Deb 02 June 1904 vol 135 c619
MR. SLACK (Hertfordshire, St. Albans)

To ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether his attention has been called to a draft scheme for the Whitstable charities, in the county of Kent, in which the income provided for the payment of teachers* salaries is diverted to the maintenance of the buildings of the Whitstable and Seasalter national school; and, if so, whether, having regard to Section 13 of the Education Act, 1902, he will withhold his approval from this scheme.

(Answered by Sir William Anson.) The draft scheme for the Whitstable Charities has been prepared by the Charity Commission, and, so far as the educational part of the endowment is concerned, will be referred, if it has not already been referred, to the local education authority. Until I am informed further in the matter, and particularly as to the views of the local education authority, I can express no opinion upon this scheme.
