§ MR. BUCHANAN (Perthshire, E.)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is the intention of the Government to renew the £7,000,000 Exchequer Bonds that expire on 6th August, and on what terms and for what time; and whether they propose to renew the whole or only a part of these bonds, and from what source they intend to pay off any bonds which they do not renew.
(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The Exchequer Bonds maturing on the 6th August amount to £6,500.000, and they will be renewed in accordance with the terms of the prospectus issued, by the Bank of England on the 22nd instant. The new bonds will run for three years, and will bear 3 per cent. interest.
