SLOAN (Belfast, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that at the recent evictions on the Clinton Estate several hundred men were present inciting women to throw stones and generally leading the riot; whether he has received any complaints on this matter; and, if so, what action, if any, has been taken to make the chief aggressors amenable.
§ MR. WYNDHAMProceedings have been instituted by the Crown against nine men on charges of riot, unlawful assembly, and assault on the sheriff's officers, arising out of these evictions. The cases have been adjourned till the 5th August.
