SWIFT MACNEILL (Donegal, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Local Government Board have sought the counsel and advice of the Law Officers of the Crown to guide them in their decision on the appeal of the Rathmines Commissioners against the decision of the Dublin County Council.
§ MR. WYNDHAMNo, Sir. I stated in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for South Dublin on the 20th June, † that the Board has authority to obtain the opinion of counsel in important cases, and that should it become necessary to consult the Law Officers of the Crown in the present case the Attorney-General will alone advise.
