JOSEPH DEVLIN (Kilkenny, N.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received a memorial from the Urban Council of Lame (county Antrim) praying for an increase in the number of councillors; and, if so, will he state what action he proposes to take in the matter.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe district council has made application to the county council for an increase in the number of urban councillors. It is for the county council to consider the application and, should it be of opinion that a prima facie case is made out, to cause an inquiry to be made in pursuance of Article 26 of the Application of Enactments Order.
