§ MR. O'DOWDI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the fact that the River Owenmore in the county Sligo takes its rise in, and flows through, a scheduled congested district; and that a scheme for the drainage of this river under the Arterial Drainage Acts is, under existing circumstances, impracticable, he will advise the Congested Districts Board or the Board of Agriculture to allocate a certain sum by way of grant in aid to local effort for the carrying out of the work of draining this river.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThere are no funds at the disposal of the Congested Districts Board or Department of Agriculture out of which to contribute towards the cost of drainage works.
§ MR. O'DOWDIf the people in the locality take the initiative in the work will they be encouraged with a grant from public funds?
§ MR. WYNDHAMI do not think-there is any fund available for the purpose.
