HC Deb 29 February 1904 vol 130 c1229
Mr. DUNCAN (Yorkshire, W.R., Otley)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state if any grants of land in the new South African Colonies, and, if any, how many, have been made to Yeomanry or Reservists who took part in the late war.

* MR. LYTTELTON

The hon. Member will see by reference to the Ordinances printed at pages 25 and 69 of Cd. 1463 that no provision is made for free grants of land in the new Colonies, though preference is to be given to those who served in the war. I will request the Governor to report how many Yeomen and Reservists have taken up land under those Ordinances.
