HC Deb 29 February 1904 vol 130 c1250
MR. KENDAL O'BRIEN (Tipperary, Mid.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that for some time past policemen are in the habit of watching the Roman Catholic church and the congregation at Knockavilla, county Tipperary, during the hours of worship on Sundays; is he aware of the views of the congregation upon the action of the police, and will he state for what purpose they are there.

MR. WYNDHAM

The hon. Member has not been correctly informed. The police attend service in this church and afterwards remain in the village for the purpose of enforcing the Licensing Laws.
