HC Deb 25 February 1904 vol 130 c974
SIR JOHN KENNAWAY (Devonshire, Honiton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment are to be quartered in huts on Crown Hill, and not in Raglan Barracks, on their arrival in Devonport.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. ARNOLD-FORSTER,) Belfast, W.

In July last my right hon. friend the Postmaster-General expressed a hope that it would be possible to quarter a battalion of the Devonshire Regiment in its own county. An opportunity of giving effect to this intention has now arisen, and the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment will be quartered in Devon-port. The question of what particular barracks shall be assigned to the Battalion is one for the decision of the Field Marshal commanding the 2nd Army Corps.
