To ask the Secretary of State for India if he has received from the Government of India information as promised by the then Secretary of State on the 25th June† last, in answer to a Question as to how many of the native States of India, the territory of which exceeds 100 square miles, are, or up to the end of last year were, under the administrative control of political agents on account of the infancy or incapacity of the chiefs of such states; and what has been the increase in their number during the last five years.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick. I have been informed by the Government of India that the local governments and administrations have been instructed to furnish the information. I am asking that the matter may be expedited.
