HC Deb 10 February 1904 vol 129 c1334
MR.O'DOWD (Sligo, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any portion of the Ireland Development Grant Fund is available for drainage and the construction and repairing of bridges and byeroads leading into backward districts, the inhabitants of which have no road accommodation; and whether local public bodies in Ireland may make application for grants from that fund.

MR. WYNDHAM

Many applications have been made by local bodies for grants from this fund. The manner in which it is proposed to allocate it will appear in the Estimate to be laid before Parliament pursuant to the requirements of the Act of last year.

MR. JOHN REDMOND

Will the representatives for Ireland be consulted before the Estimate is framed?

MR. WYNDHAM

I should be glad of an opportunity of doing so, but I rather think I have their views.
