§ MR. J. P. FARRELLI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any power exists for inquiry into the working and management of drainage boards in Ireland; to what department of State complaints of overcharges and extravagance in expenditure should be 729 directed; and will he indicate to whom such complaints should in the first instance be addressed.
§ MR. WYNDHAMIn case of neglect to maintain the drainage the Board of Works may intervene either of their own motion or on the complaint of any person aggrieved. Such a complaint should be addressed to the Secretary, Board of Works. If wrongful administration of funds is alleged, an action would lie against the members of the drainage board; or the electors might turn them out at the next election.
