HC Deb 08 February 1904 vol 129 c574
LIEUT-COLONEL TUFNELL (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the barracks now in course of erection on Salisbury Plain will be on the cubicle system; and whether it is proposed to adopt this system in the future.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. ARNOLD-FORSTER,) Belfast, W.

The barracks now in course of erection at Tidworth for eight infantry battalions are being so built that at any time if desired the cubicle system can be introduced. Experiments are now being made, but no decision can be arrived at until the present experiments with cubicle fittings are concluded.

LIEUT.-COLONEL TUFNELL

Will it apply to cavalry as well as infantry?

MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER

I can only say that until the result of the experiments is ascertained we cannot say whether the system will be adopted.
