HC Deb 04 February 1904 vol 129 c357
MR. FIELD

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he intends, with a view to promoting economy and efficiency, to arrange that in future the audit, clerical, and printing work arising out of postal business in Ireland shall be done in that country.

LORD STANLEY

The work of auditing the accounts of Irish post offices, so far as the audit is conducted by the post office, is done in Ireland, except as regards certain branches of business where centralisation is expedient. The arrangements for the audit conducted by the Auditor-General are entirely under his control. Clerical and printing work arising out of postal business in Ireland is done in that country so far as is consistent with economy and efficiency.
